So at 2500rpm at 50% throttle your vehicle produces 300nm of torque, after the software upgrade your vehicle now produces 380nm at 2500rpm at 50% throttle therefore you can now use 26% less throttle than before at 2500rpm, less throttle means less fuel use. From another persective if before one needed 2500rpm tp produce 300nm of torque, after the software upgrade 300nm of torque will be available sooner which means you can now travel at 2000rpm to produce 300nm. lower rpm means less fuel use.
